Point Reyes Lighthouse

Next on the trip was Point Reyes Lighthouse...But not before we stopped for a 'lil In N Out! Yum!

Our drive to Point Reyes was long and had about a million switchbacks. Anyone who has done the road to Hana...It was nothing compared to this! I was so excited when we finally reached the lighthouse, until I realized that we had to drive back the same way we got there!

Larry taking a break. There were 300 stairs. We needed that workout after our delish burgers!

I found this sign kind of ironic...A life saving cemetary. How exactly does that work?!

Sonoma County

While we planned on vacationing in the Carribean this month, we realized we would be paying prime prices for lodging. Cancel that plan! We love a deal, and it would have been super expensive. We decided instead to head out to California. It was a great time, although not as warm as I would have preferred. We did some wine tasting in sonoma, but I didn't manage to take any pictures. Too much Chardonnay, I guess?! We tasted at Kunde, which was gorgeous. You can check out their website at www.kunde.com

The last of the missions built on the California Mission Trail.

Larry l.o.v.e.s. history, so he needed his picture taken where the California state flag was first raised.

We visited Jack London's home and grave. My dramatic husband was in full force since there were signs warning us about mountain lions. Apparently he didn't get outdoors much growing up in Tampa :)

Jack London's home, Wolf Lodge. It was supposed to be indestructable to fire and earthquake...Unfortunately, a fire destroyed the home just a month before he was supposed to move in. The pictures of the completed house were beautiful!

I think I married a drama king...

Larry had his first trip to the eye doctor recently. He literally had never been. While I've never denied that he knows how to embarass me, he was killin' me with this doctor visit! I managed to convince him that he DID NOT need to wear the crazy plastic glasses they give you while walking through the mall, although he did feel the need to wear them in the parking lot and the car (although I was the one driving?). Seriously, this man can be so dramatic...

The American Club

Larry and I decided to head out in December to knock out yet another location from 1,000 Places to See Before you Die. This time, we drove a few hours north into Wisconsin to The American Club. This place was gorgeous! This is where the Kohler factory is, and the hotel used to be the boarding house for the male employees of the factory, back in the early 1900's. The hotel has gorgeous wood throughout, and the rooms were super plush! The best part were the bathrooms, which of course were outfitted in the highest end Kohler fixtures. Larry really doesn't get excited about hotels (not that I can blame him since he stays in more hotels than he does in our own bed!), but I love a nice hotel! In fact, I just got an e-mail that they are having a crazy good deal and I'm thinking about trying to justify $500 to go up there for a couple nights...Hmmm...Back to my lesson on frugality, I think my husband definitely will not go for it!

Our pretty room...Recessed lighting above the bed with individual switches by the nightstand...I was pretty much designing our dream home around the small details in this place! Loved it!

The super posh bathroom. While the faucet was gorgeous, it didn't function super well.

The hallway outside the room.

They had beautifully decorated Christmas trees in the sitting areas throughout the hotel, and we even got to have egg nog and treats while listening to caroler's sing.

The Kohler factory.
